The Baader 2456005-K Prism diagonal is an excellent and versitile diagonal that offers very good value for money. Firstly, by being based on a prism its performance will not deteriorate over time as is the case with cheap mirror diagonals which can tarnish. Its 1.25" fittings allow it to be used with a huge range of telescopes and eyepieces. A useful feature of its 1.25" clamp, is that this also has a micro focusing capability.

Unlike other 1.25" diagonals available, this model is based upon the T2 format. This therefore provides a much larger 32mm clear aperture internally. The 1.25" fittings can be unscrewed and replaced with larger 2" fittings if required. Note that with eyepieces using field stops above 32mm, vignetting will occur. In addition to 2" accessories, the use of the T2 format allows the diagonal to be fitted directly to Baader Binoviewers, saving valuable back focus.

The Baader 2" Clicklock features an oversized 2" dielectric 1/10 wave mirror. This has a scratch resistant hard coating for safe cleaning and will remain scratch free even if subjected to harsh environment

The mirror rejects deep UV and IR radiation, making it safe for solar viewing with all White-Light and H-Alpha Solar Filters. Note that this filtration make it unsuitable for use with Calcium filters.

Supplied as standard with this diagonal is Baaders excellent 2" Clicklock clamp that makes swapping out accessories simple and fast.

For more than 300 years, silver coatings were used for their extremely high reflectivity but unprotected silver is prone to aging and tarnishing. This is not the case with Baaders proprietary and weatherproof coating of hardened silver which has a dielectric coating to protect it from degrading. As has been proven, the combination of silver and temperature-resistent Sital gives you the best viewing experience, without light-loss, haze or scatter.

In addition to superb optical performance, each BBHS diagonal is collimated to ensure its insertion does not de-collimate your telescope. When you recieve you diagonal it will include a note to confirm this. You may note the base screws are slightly different and feel the need to adjust them. Don't! This is the result of collimation.

If you demand the best diagonal then the BBHS diagonal is the only choice.

The Baader-FlipMirror II Star Diagonal (BFM II) is a very flexible accessory which features three ports.

It can be used straight through (S52, M48 and T-2 threads on both sides). This would be the normal use with a camera (full-frame camera, spectrograph, or other instruments)

There is then an adjustable T-2 thread on top for eyepiece clamps, video modules (up to 32 mm image circle) or even a binoviewer

The bottom flange is intended for the optional Off Axis Guider for Baader FlipMirror II (BFM-OAG) (#2956951), or for an optional calibration lamp for quick calibration of spectra without removing the spectrograph

The precise surface mirrored flip mirror has a multi-layer Alumnimum coating which is suitable for high-resolution images using cameras with small pixels

The back of the flip mirror is also Aluminimum coated and masked to direct the light of an optional calibration lamp onto the slit of a spectrograph

The face of the FlipMirror II has an adjustable plate which enables for the precise adjustment of all light paths

The FlipMirror II is very compact allowing for the shortest possible overall length for any application and is compatible with a large number of T2 and M48 adapters and also Baaders UFC system (Universal Filter Changer)

The rotatable M48 connection rings are made of hardened, stainless steel on front and rear, are backlash-free and adapted to the FlipMirror II housing. They can be fixed in the optimum position to rotate any accessory around the optical axis.

The FlipMirror II is prepared for an optional toothed belt for motorization (e.g. by Steeldrive II motor focuser with Controller (#2957165) ). This is a basic requirement for image acquisition, guiding and spectroscopy in remote observatories.

The Baader Planetarium Off Axis Guider (BFM-OAG) is designed for direct connection to the Baader FlipMirror II Star Diagonal. This is the only OAG prism that can be tuned to actively center a star on the guiding chip.

Use the BFM-OAG to attach an autoguider camera to a Baader FlipMirror II Mirror Diagonal that works with both positions of the mirror.

The distance between the optical axis and the center of the OAG prism is 17.5mm  (once the 4mm spacer ring is removed). This distance provides the largest possible vignetting-free field while retaining all the advantages of the large and movable prism. With one or two 1.25" nosepiece extensions (1905130) you can place virtually any camera on the Off Axis Guider so that it is parfocal with the imaging camera.

The Baader Planetarium 2" Herschel Safety Wedge Solar Prism is the classic way to observe and image the sun. The Baader Herschel Safety Wedge Solar Prism is superior in resolution and contrast to the best front mounted glass objective white filters. It provides a true white-light view and does not filter any visual wavelengths.

The The Baader Herschel Safety Wedge Solar Prism uses a precision 2" Zeiss wedge prism, and incorporates a permanently pre-installed ND3.0 filter in the wedge housing. Waste energy is sent through Baader's innovative Light Trap. Baader Herschel Safety Wedge Solar Prism Features: The latest version incorporates an innovative Light Trap developed by Baader Planetarium. This development takes the Herschel Wedge into the 21st Century, by rendering the output energy cool and diffused!

In some other Herschel Wedge designs, the waste energy is simply deflected out of the rear face of the prism by an angled mirror. Though quite safe with careful use, the user still had to be aware not to place any object (or body part..) into this output beam (and to prevent any casual onlooker from carelessly staring up into the beam). Thanks to Baader Planetarium, this concern has now been completely removed. In place of the typical output mirror is a coated multi-layered perforated steel screen. The bright light and heat energy are harmlessly diffused. Even after prolonged observations through large refractors, the light trap remains cool. You can even place a hand below the output and no heat can be felt (also, no tempting or hazardous bright output for careless eyes to see).

Note: A Herschel Wedge is only for use with Refracting Telescope unless otherwise advised. Use with either the Baader Triband SCT or Airylab HaT reflecting telescopes is permitted.

Baader 40mm SkySurfer V Red Dot Finder

This is a large aperture, premium quality, lightweight aluminum red dot finder, with bases to fit almost any telescope.

Supplied with Dew Caps/Lens Shades and captive protective end caps. The Sky Surfer V is constructed mostly of metal. This red dot finder is definitely built to last! The Sky Surfer V is based on a robust model from the military, which is offered in field sports stores at twice the price – but with much poorer performance (from an astronomical point of view!). Baader have "demilitarized“ it and optimized it for astronomy. The main improvements are;

• The typical, red shimmering coating has been replaced by an astronomical coating, allowing even faint stars to be seen.

• All glass surfaces are coated to increase the transmission of light.

• You can attach 40mm long dew caps at both sides to prevent fogging of the glass surfaces.

• The red dot sight can be adjusted to a very low brightness. This way it does not dazzle at night.

• All optical surfaces are made of high quality glass. The red-dot-finder is sealed watertight by O-rings.

• The dust caps can also be used as a Solar FInder (WITH CAUTION - Please read the instructions fully first!)
