Motor Drives are available for both Dome rotation and pening / closing the Shutter. They consist of the following components:

Depending on the dome size, different types of components, which vary in power, size, or the supply voltage are used

For each of the drives you can add the appropriate encoder module and the heating system allows the dome to work in low temperatures below zero degrees.

Additionally, you can add waterproof enclosures with control buttons and integrated wiring to facilitate the connection of motor control in the dome. The Plug and Play Option includes all of these items for both the motors and control electronics. We recommend this option for people who have no experience in electronics and electrical engineering.

The 80cm or 120cm Tower are both supplied with a single equipment bay. As an option a second bay may be added.

To simplify installation, a structural metal base is available. This comprises a frame with sheet metal floor that the observatory Tower fixes directly to. The base has a cut-out for a pier and features adjustable feet which only require pads to sit on. This therefore removes the need for a concrete slab to be laid or for other ground works to be carried out. It also permits much simpler mounting of an observatory onto an existing roof structure.

The Plug and Play Wiring Kit is a huge timesaver and ensures your observatory is ready to go straight after delivery. It includes all wiring, pre terminated and labelled. The Motor and Controll system components are all contained within waterproof boxes and a heating system, all installed on mounting plates.

This kit is the easiest way to ensure your new observatory is properly fitted out. Just plug it in!

All ScopeDomesallow you the freedom to order them in a wide range of colours if desired or needed. A large object like a dome observatory can be an annoyance to a neighbour or local authorities if left in plain white. Therefore the whole range of colours shown in the RAL chart in the image above is available at a small extra charge.

The 120cm Tower Base for the 2M ScopeDome Observatory provides the ideal platform for the dome as sufficient height to allow someone to stand fully upright within the observatory. It is supplied with a single equipment bay. An additional bay can be added at the time of order for a small extra cost.

The 80cm Tower Base provides an increase in height and the perfect platform to mount the dome on. It is supplied with a single equipment bay. An additional bay can be added at the time of order.

ScopeDome Arduino Card ver. 1.3

This module is designed to control your astronomical observatory. It offers full compatibility with the Arduino environment (Arduino Mega clone) and has an open source communication protocol. Control can be via Ethernet or USB. The two modules includes are connected via BlueTooth in Master and Slave modes The Master module controls the dome's rotation, the Slave module controls the dome's shutter.
