The QHY Off Axis Guider (OAG) series are designed to mount directly to either QHY cameras or filter wheels. This is done using their 6 bolt system to ensure perfect parallelism.
Using an OAG ensures guiding is the most accurate by using the same optics as the imaging camera. In doing so issues with flexure of the guide system are avoided. A pick off prism mounted close to the main imaging sensor provides the guide camera with its image.
The OAG is positioned so that the distance from the prism to the guide camera sensor, is the same as from the prism to the main sensor. The OAG is thus normally placed on the front of the filter wheel or camera.
Supplied with the OAG is an adapter set allowing for various mounting options to different threads. Each OAG has a precision helical focuser designed to accomodate a 1.25" format guide camera. Once focus is acheived this can be locked.
The QHY OAG-S Model shown here is designed for use where you use filters up to 50mm x 50mm. This may be required for very low focal ratio systems used with even a 24mm x 36mm sensor such as the QHY600M. Typically a 50mm x 50mm filter is used with slower systems using large format cameras based around 37mm x 37mm sensors such as the traditional KAF-16803 or new GSense 4040 based cameras. The OAG-L is designed to specifically fit the QHYCFW3-XL which includes both 9 x 50mm Round and 7 x 50mm square filter carousels.
