The big 100° field of view offered by the new APM Telescopes 13mm XWA eyepiece together with excellent contrast will leave you more than impressed after first light. The excellent engineering and fully multi-coated lens surfaces are suggestive of eyepieces costing much more. Features of the eyepiece are low chromatic aberration and excellent contrast. The lens edges and internal spacers are fully blackened allowing flaring and ghosting on high-contrast objects to be eliminated.
The new APM Telescopes XWA range of eyepieces are Nitrogen filled and waterproof. The 13mm features a 1.25" Nose with optional 2" filter sleeve allowing use in either 1.25" or 2" diagonals. Both size options are threaded for filters and it is possible to use the 2" nose together with a 1.25" filter. The rubber eye cup may be removed to reveal an M44.5 x 0.75 thread. This allows the eyepiece to be used for Afocal photography.
A 13mm Eyepiece is well suited to use with refractors in the 800-1200mm focal length range. The magnification and field of view match this focal length range well allowing many common objects to be seen in detail and in context with their surroundings.
