Optec / Astrograph ThirdLynx UXF Motor Kit for United Optics 2.5" & 3.7" Focusers

The Optec / Astrograph Thirdlynx UXF motor system is an aftermarket add-on for the 2.5" and 3.7" R&P ZTA Focusers made by United Optics. It has been developed by Optec in collaboration with Astrograph Ltd to provide a simple, universal focusing solution for this common focuser. This motor design does not use an external controller as the electronics for this are now integrated into the motor unit which includes a built in temperature sensor. The DirectSync UXF motor provides a direct drive motor that can be easily disengaged for manual focusing. The UXF motor kit is easy to install and provides a digital focusing solution that also allows manual focus when at the telescope.

The DirectSync UXF package was designed especially for the United Optics 2.5" and 3.7" ZTA focusers and features a Universal mounting bracket that supports both sizes. It features a direct gearing system that leaves the planetary reduction assembly and unique tensioning system intact, DirectSync UXF can achieve greater positional repeatability and carry imaging camera packages in excess of 5 kg (11-lbs)!

The motor can be used in both manual and automatic focusing modes. It is fully ASCOM compliant and can work in conjunction with higher level client software to provide auto-focusing. Alternatively it can be used in standalone mode using Optecs Focuslynx control software. The UXF is fully compatible with Optec FocusLynx dual-focus control hubs and software making the UXF functional with all ASCOM, Alpaca, X2, and INDI software.

The UXF is supplied with everything needed to fit the motor to your focuser. The motor uses a USB2.0 Type B socket for control and is supplied with a standard USB cable. 12V power is required. This is via a standard 2.1mm DC socket. To provide power options, an innovative USB to 12V DC cable is also included to allow you to power the motor via a spare USB socket if no spare 12V power connection is available.
