The ASA 600 telescope is ASA's premium telescope for mounting on convential mounts. It is used by professional observatories, research institutes and universities alike. These exacting telescope systems are designed and developed by the respected physicist and optical designer Dipl. Phys. Philipp Keller and offer an extremely high level of performance. The tubes are designed as lattice constructions using Carbon Fibre Re-enforced Polymer (CFRP) tubes. The optics are made of Quartz glass and precision engineered by ASA's own optical manufacturing facility.

Optical tubes are offered for either equatorial or alt-azimuth mounts. For imaging the telescope features motorised secondary mirror focusing. The standard RC design can operate without the need for correctors, however for larger sensors they must be used in conjunction with the ASA/Phillipp Keller designed Field Flattener or Reducer. With these the ASA600 is designed to be used with large CCD sensors (with an image circle of up to 150 mm) for pinpoint stars right into the corners.

As would be expected for a professional telescope system such as this, options are available. As standard we offer the ASA600 as a Ritchey-Chrétien design with Quartz optics. Alternatively the telescope may be ordered as a Cassegrain. This design is not so tolerent of imaging use without a corrector however the simpler design of the mirror reduces the overall cost. The optics may also be substituted for Astro-Sital and manufactured by LOMO. The optcial quality for the telescope is set at;
