See below for a tutorial covering the basics of solar imaging and processing. Please treat this as a guide. There are many different ways to acheive similar results, but like everything, time spent on preparation is unlikely to be wasted! The following slides are part of a presentation we offer to astronomy societies.
Imaging the sun is more closely related to planetary imaging as far as technique and processing is concerned. It is not something that is affected by light pollution and can be done successfully from almost anywhere. The sun is an ever changing subject and can be captured in different wavelengths. It can become quite addictive.
