THIS IS AN EX-DISPLAY FILTER. IT IS AS NEW BUT THE BOX HAS BEEN OPENED

The CLS Filter enhances the contrast between astronomical objects and the background. Due to the wider transmission curve compared to UHC filters, a greater amount of light will pass through the filter. Stars will be less dimmed. This filter has been optimized to block as much spurious light as possible and simultaneously provide the best performance for 'useful' light. A good filter for DSLR, CCD and B&W film photography as well as observation of deep-sky-objects with telescopes or photo lenses of all aperture f/3 and above.

Main Use

The CLS Filter blocks completely emission lines of artificial light sources like streetlights (e.g. sodium- and mercury-vapor) as well as the airglow. All 'important' emission lines as well as the spectral range of the night-adapted eye are beeing passed. This filter does not block IR and so is best suited for use with cameras already having an IR block filter

Other Uses

  • Easier resolution of Double Stars.
  • With the EOS-Clip model, photography with DSLR cameras is feasible even unter extreme light-polluting conditions without shifting the white balance.
  • The 1,25" and 2" socket models can be used for observations from light-polluted areas.
  • If you plan to create color images from emission line data, our CLS filter is a great choice for the Luminance channel
Suitability
  • Visual observation (dark skies): Good, to reduce light pollution by mercury-vapour lamps (streetlight)
  • Visual observation (urban skies): Reasonable, an UHC-E or UHC filter is more suitable
  • Film photography: Very good, colour balance is near perfect
  • CCD photography: Very good, optimized rejection of light pollution
  • DSLR photography (original): Very good, colour balance shifted but contrast enhanced
  • DSLR photography (astro modified): Very good, colour balance is near perfect
  • DSLR photography (MC modified): Very good, colour balance is near perfect
  • Webcam / Video (Planets): Unsuitable
  • Webcam / Video (Deep Sky): Very good, if light pollution is a big problem

Technical Data

  • 95% transmission at 486nm (H-beta)
  • 95% transmission at 496nm (OIII)

Astronomik has added a new range of RGB filters to its line of World class products. The new Deep-Sky RGB filters are designed for maximum deep sky imaging performance with CCD cameras. Using Astronomik Deep-Sky RGB filters will benefit your imaging and will provide you with the highest-quality data for amazing images with unsurpassed sharpness, contrast and vivid colors.

Some key features of the new filters are

- Maximum transmission of up to 95%

- Ultra-Sharp, pinpoint star images

- High contrast easy to process data for vivid colours in the final image

- Optimized spectral windows for max photon counts on the sensor made on finest, opticaly polished glass

- Extremly durable, scratch resistant coating

- MFR Coating technique for a wide range of focal ratios

The new Astronomik Deep-Sky RGB filters are the result of a long and detailed process of research and development. They have created the most advanced set of RGB filters for Deep-Sky imaging available today. The transmission curves of the three filters are designed to give you strong and vivid colors with a strong reinforcement of the most important emission lines. Data taken with the new Astronomik Deep-Sky RGB filters is easier to process into a beautifull final masterpiece. Feedback from test-users reported smaller, sharper stars which was one of our design goals, so these filters will give you the best contrast and the smallest stars possible!

During the design of the Deep-Sky RGB filters Astronomik took a close look at the sensitivity curves of today’s popular CCD cameras. The result was they found a way to make one set of filters for all kind of sensors ranging from KAF- and KAI-sensors, to the chips made by Sony etc, meaning you can do 1:1:1 ratio RGB exposures with all sensors, with only minimal tweaking necessary during processing to achieve perfect colours in your image!

The transmission curve characteristics and coatings on the new Deep Sky RGB filters have been designed and engineered in such a way that no halos or reflections will be visible. Even with bright stars in the field of view you will be able to reveal the faintest structures in nebulas or galaxies Additional to the Deep-Sky RGB filters Astronomik now offers three different Luminance filters. The different spectral window of each new Luminance filters is designed to tune your setup to get the sharpest image from any optical design and any camera, even with instruments with less-than-perfect colour correction. (Link einfügen) Like all Astronomik Filters, the new Deep-Sky RGB filters are made using an extremely durable and scratch resistant coating, deposited on the finest polished optical substrate, which is free of any striae or internal strains. All substrates are made to exactly the same thickness, so all of our filters are parfocal.

Astronomik 2" Ha-CCD 6nm

can be shipped within 2-5 days

£421.00
Price includes VAT, plus delivery

The full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 6nm is optimized for a maximum contrast between the (H-alpha emitting) object and the background. The contrast gain is much higher than with the 12nm emission line filters but you won't see as many stars in the resulting image. The design of the transmission curve makes it possible to use these filters with instruments from F1:3.75 to 1:15. Selected filters for even faster systems are available upon special request. All transmission curves of the 6nm filter are measured individually. Each 6nm filter is gauranteed to have a minimum 90% transmission at F4 and each filter has its transmission printed on the box. Typically you will see transmission as high as 96%!

Main Use

The Astronomik H-alpha-CCD (6nm version) increases the contrast significantly between objects, in this case between the H-alpha emission line and the skyglow background in the same way as the 12nm version. The gain in contrast is much higher due to the smaller FWHM. The 6nm H-Alpha filter is the right choice for extremely dim objects, even in the milkyway, and for observations from heavily light-polluted places. The Astronomik 6nm H-alpha CCD completely suppresses the emission lines of artificial lighting (mercury (Hg) and sodium (Na)) and skyglow. Transmission losses and chromatic distortions, which arise with other filters, only occur with Astronomik filters when extremely bright aperture ratios come into play. Selected filters for faster systems are available upon special request.

Other Uses

Using the Astronomik 6nm H-Alpha together with the 12nm H-Alpha gives you the ability to have a maximum contrast in the H-Alpha objects and to keep the stars in the final image. The Astronomik 6nm H-Alpha filter should NOT be used for solar observation.

Alternatives

If you plan to do (false) colour imaging with other emission line filters, you should use matching filters. i.e. 6nm with other 6nm not 6nm plus 12nm. Images taken with filters with differing FWHM are very difficult to combine into the final image.

Suitability

- Visual observation (dark skies): Unsuitable

- Visual observation (urban skies): Unsuitable

- Film photography: Unsuitable

- CCD photography: Very good, huge contrast enhancement on H II-emission nebulas

- DSLR photography (original): Good, reduced sensitivity in the H-alpha band

- DSLR photography (astro modified): Very good, huge contrast enhancement at H II-emission nebulas

- DSLR photography (MC modified): Very good, huge contrast enhancement at H II-emission nebulas

- Webcam / Video (Planets): Unsuitable

- Webcam / Video (Deep Sky): Unsuitable

Technical Data

- Parfocal with other Astronomik filters

- Glass thickness: 1mm

- Completely resistant against high humidity, scratches and aging effects

- Diffraction limited, the filter will not reduce the optical performance of your telescope!

Astronomik 2" OIII-CCD 6nm

can be shipped within 2-5 days

£421.00
Price includes VAT, plus delivery

The OIII-CCD Filter is suitable for imaging of OIII nebulas from observation sites with light pollution and from dark sites as well. The contrast between an object glowing at 501nm and the background is increased enormous! Due to the combination of the narrow bandwidth of 6nm and the high transmission of typically 96% the filter gives you an enormous contrast boost, as all unwanted light from other wavelengths than is blocked form UV up to the IR. This results in an extremly dark background. The FWHM of 6nm is matched to give you optimal performance with CCD and CMOS sensors with a very low dark current! The 6nm filter is the best choice if you are observing from a heavily light polluted site or if you are imaging faint objects in starcrowded regions of the milkyway. Due to the new MFR coating technique you may use one single filter on all instruments up to f/4 without a significant reduction in performance.

Technical data:

Guaranteed Transmission of more than 90% at the OIII Line (501 nm)

Typical Transmission of 96% at the OIII Line (501 nm)

Full-Width-Half Maximum (FWHM): 6nm

Perfect blocking of unwanted light from UV up to the IR

Parfocal with all Astronomik filters

MFR Coating technique

Usable with all optics up to f/4

This SII-CCD Filter is suitable for imaging of SII-regions from observation sites with light pollution and from dark sites as well. The contrast between an object glowing at 672nm and the background is increased significantly. Due to the combination of the narrow bandwidth of 6nm and the high transmission of typically 96%, the filter gives you an enormous contrast boost, as all unwanted light from other wavelengths than 672nm is blocked form UV up to the IR. This results in an extremly dark background.

The FWHM of 6nm is matched to give you optimal performance with CCD and CMOS sensors with a very low dark current. The 6nm filter is the best choice if you are observing from a heavily light polluted site or if you are imaging faint objects in starcrowded regions of the milkyway.

Imaging with Narrowband-Emission line Filters

If you have to observe from light polluted sites (like most of us...), imaging with Narrowband-Emissionline filters is the best way to take great images, as all kinds of light pollution can be blocked very effectively. Normally an H-alpha filter should be your first step into this amazing field of astrophotography! With a Narrowband H-alpha filter you will be able to take deep and high contrast images even with very heavy light pollution or with the full moon high in the sky. If you look at other astrophotos, an H-alpha is the best choice for all nebulas glowing red. An OIII filters expands your imaging possibilities, as you are able to image all greenish/blueish structures. Planetary nebulas and star forming regions are great targets. The SII filters completes the narrowband set. With these three filters you are able to process your images like the ones from the Hubble space telescope. The h-beta filter is not available in a 6nm version, as this filter has nearly no meaningfull application.

Operation of the filter

The filter blocks all unwanted light from artifical light-pollution, natural airglow and moonlight. Especially light from High and Low-Pressure Sodium and Mercury lights and all lines of natural airglow are 100% blocked. The filter increases the contrast between the sky-background.

Astronomik 2" L2 UV/IR Cut Filter

Not in stock

£90.00
Price includes VAT, plus delivery

UV and IR Cut Filter for digital photography.

The Astronomik UV-IR Blocker lets the full range of sensitivity of the human eye (according to DIN 5031) pass, and blocks all other parts of the spectrum in the UV and IR. The Astronomik UV-IR Blocker is the ideal choice as a luminance filter for any kind of digital photography. Because of the perfect blocking of UV and IR all optical problems in these parts of the spectrum are avoided. The filter is optimized for systems with focal ratios between f/0.5 and f/50.

The typical transmission is higher than 99%.

Main Uses

The UV-IR Blocker gives you a perfect parfocal filter for the luminance channel when combined with other Astronomik filters. It is also great as a dust protection for your telescope and camera.

A UV/IR cut filter may also be used as a cost effective solar ERF (Energy Rejection Filter) for use with refractor telescopes up to 150mm. When placed before the Etalon the UV/IR cut reflects back ot of the telescope the harmful wavelengths that would otherwise damage the Etalon.
