THIS IS OUR DISPLAY / DEMONSTRATION PAIR THAT WE ARE SELLING OFF AS PART OF AN ANNUAL STOCK TURN. THIS PAIR WERE USED FOR THE ASTRONOMY NOW REVIEW

A 90° version of APM's 120mm ED-APO Binocular offers an alternative viewing angle for observing use. In all other respects this version is identical to the 45° version.

The 120mm optics have excellent spherical correction and the rear element of the doublet lens cell makes use of OHARA FPL-53 SD Glass.  As you would expect from APM, the color correction, contrast and transmission are outstanding. Each pair of binoculars are subject to bench alignment to a minimum 100x magnification. Before shipping to a customer we visually test each pair and supply them with a QC report.

Only APM optical bench align each pair to 100x magnification to ensure the perform at their very best. This is an important factor to consider when choosing binoculars capable of higher magnifications. Factory alignment can be very approximate and inconsistant. APM and ourselves have learnt this! Therefore we hand align each pair of binoculars to ensure that our customers get the most out of their purchase. In addition to the standard 2 year warranty we also offer an additional 3 year mechanical warranty in the UK once the purchase is registered on the apm-telescopes.co.uk website.

Supplied with the binoculars are a basic set of 18mm 65° (36.6x magnification) eyepieces so you can start observing immediately. The focal position was chosen so that 1.25" Tele Vue Delos, DeLite, Nagler, Panoptic, and Docter eyepieces can all be focused. Other features of the 120mm APO Binoculars include integrated sliding dew shields with front cover plate, carrying handle with sighting device and a tripod adapter with combined 1/4" and 3/8" thread. They are also magnisium bodied so that despite their reasonable physical size, they are not excessively heavy.

The 1.25" eyepiece clamps are self-centering mounted to independent helical focusers with an interpupillary adjuster to ensure the eyepieces are spaced correctly for your particualr eyes.

As an optional extra, a metal bodied red dot finder is available which is designed to fit on the carrying handle.

This combined Flattener and Field Corrector is designed specifically for use with the Tecnosky 60 F6. It is also compatible with the TS Photoline 60mm F6 and Altair 60mm EDF which are identical telescopes.

The flattener is compatible with full frame DSLR sensors and has a corrected field of 41mm (Note that a slight lack of correction in the corners of full frame sensors is possible as these require 44mm of correction).

The flattener connects to the telescope via a male M54 x 0.75 thread. This is after unscrewing the visual back that is supplied as standard with the telescope. In its place a collar is fitted to which the flattener itself is then attached. This collar allows the camera to be rotated 360° for optimal framing of the subject.

The camera side of the flattener also features a standard M48 thread. The design backfocus with the Tecnosky 60mm F6 from the M48 thread is 55mm. This simplicity means that by simply attaching an M48 mount adaptor to the flattener, you DSLR is automatically placed at the correct distance for imaging.

Internally the corrector and its baffle are matt black, optimising contrast for the best possible images.

The Tecnosky AG70 is a flat field Apochromatic Astrograph that offers a flat field suitable for even 36x36mm format sensors and is ideally suited for use with a full frame DSLR. The AG70's optical design features a front FPL53 / Lanthanum doublet and two rear correcting elements to guarantee images free of false colour that are sharp to the very edge of field for imaging.  All optics are fully multi-coated and the interior of the tube has a series of knife edge baffles to eliminate unwanted reflections.

The rear of the scope terminates in an M48 thread allowing direct connect for full frame DSLRs with a suitable mount adapter. This thread is part of a zero tilt rotator to allow perfect framing of an object. The end of the focuser also incorporates a tilt adjuster to allow for any tilt errors that may be introduced by the camera sensor. The focuser itself has dual tilt adjusters to prevent any tilt from excessive loads. Note: ALL scopes supplied by Astrograph Ltd are subjected to collimation and alignment before supply. We test all performance critical products so you don't end up disappointed.

The fast F5 focal ratio reduces exposure times and makes the AG70 perhaps the ultimate wide field imaging and travel scope.

Despite being a very small and compact tube it is equipped with the new 2.5" Rack and Pinion focuser that has a load capacity up to 3kg. The excellent 2.5" R&P focuser can be fully motorised with the addition of a Lunatico Motor Focus kit. Complete with rings the whole scope weight is only 2.1 kg! The Tecnosky 152/900 Achromat is a 'Rich-Field' refractor offering better than normal colour correction for such a low focal ratio Achromat.

It features a collimatable cell, together with a lightweight aluminium tube including tube rings and a dovetail. The supplied focuser is a 2.5" R&P type with excellent load capacity and 1:10 fine focusing. Its surprisingly good optical performance allows it to be used for narrowband imaging when combined with a field flattener.

A particularly good application for this telescope is as a solar telescope when combined with a quality rear mounted H-Alpha filter such as one from the Solar Spectrum Range. As such it offers high resolution with relatively short focal length. For this application we recommend use with the Baader 135mm ERF and Cell. Combined with the Baader TZ-4 Telecentric this allows the system to operate at F28.7, allowing a rear mounted filter to deliver excellent contrast.

Tecnosky has developed a large 210mm (204mm Clear Aperture) short-focus achromatic refractor for wide field deep-sky observation and photography in narrow band, including solar.

The lens is composed of an air spaced doublet with multi-layer anti-reflection coatings; the lenses are housed in an aluminum collimatable cell. The tube is made in Italy, from anti-corroding 3mm aluminum and is fitted with internal baffles. The focuser is a smooth 2.7" from Tecnosky.

The tube is different in not having tube rings. Instead, it uses two strong (but lighter) crescents linked to a long bar Geoptik Losmandy. The total weight of the instrument is only 17kg.

Testing has confirmed a good overall optical correction for such a low F ratio Achromat with a very good manageable chromaticism of the Moon and planets using a Baader Semi Apo filter. Despite being a telescope for use at medium / low magnification of deep-sky objects, detailed close up views of solar system objects are quite possible.

Due to its low focal ratio the 210 is also well suited to imaging of Narrowband Deep Sky objects.

The 210 is also very suitable for use as a giant H-alpha telescope, using rear mounted filters from PST etalons upwards. An example image using a PST taking with the scope is shown above. To aid Solar use, we can provide an internally mounted 75mm Baader D-ERF with integral cell designed to be mounted directly on the front of the focuser. A front mounted, 235mm ERF filter is also planned. Please contact use for details about this.

As this is essentially a custom made product we can also offer various focuser options. On request the scope is also available as an 1800mm focal length version. Please ask for pricing about custom options.

Please note that as this is a custom made scope there is a short lead time to allow for tube manufacture.

GSO RC14 Truss Astrograph.net

The GSO 14" f/8 Ritchey-Chretien Truss Tube Astrograph is a true RC telescope and offers a flat field without additional correcting optics, reducing losses and maintaining focus across wavelengths.

The telescope is really an observatory class instrument due to its size and suitable for use with mounts like the Fornax 51 and similar.

Carbon Fibre Truss Tube

A lightweight serrurier truss frame is self supporting and maintains the position of the primary and secondary  optics relative to each other. This keeps the system collimated. Its carbon fibre construction has low thermal expansion. Focus shift is therefore minimal.

The scope is supplied with GSO's own 3" Monorail focuser. The design helps to prevent focuser tilt with heavy camera loads.

The focuser can be substituted as an optional extra with other more specialised focusers from Starlight Instruments, ASA, Gemini and Finger Lakes.

Optics

The Ritchey-Chretien design is based upon the use of primary and secondary hyperbolic mirrors.  This type of mirror allows for correction of many of the optical aberrations caused by using Spherical and Parabolic mirrors and leads to the characteristic flat field offered by an RC without the need for a separate correction lens. Traditionally a hyperbolic mirror is difficult and therefore expensive to produce. However GSO have been able to perfect a low cost method of manufacture, making the RC design accessible to all.

Both the primary and secondary mirrors are made from low expansion quartz. This reduces the cool down time required from a high ambient temperature and also further promotes focus stability. The primary mirror also features fan cooling if needed. The mirrors themselves have a highly reflective 99% dielectric coating that is anti-tarnish and anti-scratch  The primary mirror is fixed to a metal mirror cell. The secondary sits in a metal housing that can be collimated.

Advantages of the Ritchey-Chretien Design

Unlike other Cassegrain type designs, the RC has a fixed primary mirror. This means that image shift or flop is removed from the system during focusing or position of the telescope. No matter how good the design, any movable mirror can suffer from this problem. Apart from the issue of focus and image shift this causes, it also, by definition, affects collimation.

Schmidt Cassegrain designs require additional correctors to provide a flat field and reduce the effects of coma and other aberrations. The addition of such optics will by definition add new problems. The RC design does not require an additional correction in its basic design.  It can of course be used with both flattener and reducer flatteners when even larger flat field diameters are required for use with large format sensors. The GSO 14" RC offers a 68mm corrected field when used with the dedicated 3" flattener allowing use with sensors up to 36x36mm format. It can also be used with the APM Small Reducer This will provide a 42mm corrected field and reduce the focal ratio to F6.

The Corrected Dall-Kirkham (CDK) design is also popular in this category of reflector. However a CDK uses a spherical mirror to lower cost which then has to be corrected with separate optics to compensate for the aberrations that spherical mirrors introduce. Although traditionally the extra optics and associated light loss from using them makes a high end CDK less expensive than an RC, the breakthrough price of GSO's hyperbolic mirrors mean this is no longer true.
